Founder, Comfort First Nursing
Hi, I'm Erica.
I'm a Licensed Practical Nurse, business owner, wife, and believer that some of the most important moments in healthcare happen when we simply slow down and spend time with another person.
My path to nursing wasn't traditional.
I began my career in the automotive industry, where I quickly moved from receptionist to management positions in internet sales, overseeing operations for multiple dealerships. While I was successful in that field, the unexpected loss of a loved one caused me to reevaluate what I wanted my life to stand for.
Just days after losing my cousin, I enrolled in nursing school.
I graduated, earned my nursing license, and moved to Pennsylvania to begin a career that has now allowed me to care for hundreds of seniors and their families.
Over the years, I've worked in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, and agency nursing. I've witnessed both the challenges and the beauty of caring for older adults. I've learned how important clinical excellence is—but I've also learned that some of the most meaningful care cannot be measured by a chart, medication pass, or treatment record.

The Moment That Changed Everything
Many years ago, I cared for a resident named “Winnie”.
“Winnie” lived with advanced dementia and was no longer able to communicate with words. Every day after leaving the dining room, she would stop at my medication cart. It didn't matter if I was busy or if she had to wait.
She would simply hold out her arms and wait for her hug.
On the days her daughter couldn't visit, she would call me to check on her mom. Sometimes “Winnie” and I would share an ice cream sundae and watch a movie together.
One day her daughter said something I'll never forget:
"I don't know what it is about you, but you two have such a special bond."
The truth is, “Winnie” gave me a gift.
She reminded me that people living with dementia still need connection, comfort, companionship, and love. She taught me that being present can be just as important as any clinical skill.
That experience stayed with me long after our time together ended.

Why Comfort First Nursing Exists
Comfort First Nursing was created because I believe older adults deserve more than tasks and checklists.
They deserve to be seen.
They deserve to be heard.
They deserve meaningful companionship, encouragement, education, advocacy, and support.
Families are often balancing work, children, responsibilities, and caregiving all at once. My goal is to help bridge that gap by providing compassionate, personalized support that helps seniors remain safe, confident, and connected.
Whether I'm organizing medications, providing wellness education, helping a family navigate a healthcare transition, or simply spending time with a client, my mission remains the same:
To treat every client with the dignity, kindness, and respect I would want for my own family.

A Personal Note
As both a nurse and a cancer survivor, I understand how quickly life can change.
I've experienced healthcare from both sides of the bedside.
Those experiences strengthened my faith, deepened my compassion, and reinforced my belief that every person deserves to feel valued and cared for.
It is an honor to walk alongside my clients and their families during every season of life.
